The Power of Possibilities Recognition Event
Join Steve Young, former quarterback for the San Francisco 49’ers; Josh Elliott, host of “Good Morning America”; Conner and Cayden Long, Sports Illustrated Kids 2012 SportsKids of the Year; and Community Gatepath for a day of inspiring conversation, stories, awards, and community building. If you have never attended our Power of Possibilities event, you are in for an amazing day. You may think the reason to come is our panel of special guests, however it is the stories and the awards presented that make the day so special. We know that you will be touched and inspired by the members of our special needs community. It is truly an event not to be missed.
More about special guests and keynote speakers:
Conner and Cayden Long were named the Sports Illustrated Kids 2012 SportsKids of the Year! These two brothers found a way to form a special bond despite Cayden's diagnosis of Cerebral Palsy. Even though Cayden can't walk or speak, the two compete in triathlons together around the country. Growing up, Conner had always longed to play outside and ride bikes with his brother, but due to Cayden’s disability, the odds were against this happening… until one day when his mom stumbled across a local children's triathlon that was taking place. Curious about the event, Conner asked if he could participate with his brother. Gaining permission from the race coordinators, Team Long Brothers was born! Conner and Cayden participated in their first triathlon as a team at the Nashville Kids Triathlon. They did not place 1st, 2nd, or even 3rd - in fact they placed last. However, what truly mattered is they made a lifelong connection that day as brothers, who can accomplish anything they set their minds to.
