Summary:
The Lead Instructor, under the supervision of the Specialist III, is responsible for assisting in carrying out the daily activities of the program.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Direct Supervision of participants enrolled in services.
- Support Participants in achieving their goals.
- Maintain a safe and efficient work environment (i.e. Cleaning Spills/Bathrooms throughout the building)
- Assist in creating and implementing program activities for participants.
- Take Lead/Point Person in the program room in supervisor’s absence.
- Develop, implement, and conduct a variety of outings designed to promote community integration. Organize weekly and monthly outing schedules to ensure fair rotation of participants.
- Coordinate the development and implementation of weekly and monthly calendar of activities for the program.
- Assist participants in all daily personal hygiene program: hand washing, toileting, including changing of clothing due to accidents
- Assist participants in daily lunch program.
- Assist in daily set up and clean up of program activities.
- Provide input for evaluation reports and individual goal plans for participants (i.e. measurable goals).
- Oversee participants in achieving their goals and maintaining a safe environment while participating in community integration.
- Assist in being a liaison with Supervisor and/or CRP regarding participant progress and identifying problems as they arise.
- Supervise and assist trainees in paid work activities (Pre-Vocational and Vocational Programs Only).
- Complete paperwork for each participant’s activities and assigned program required documentation.
- Coordinate and drive participants on Community Outings.
- Provide flexible lunch and break time coverage as needed.
- Comply with participants’ rights, Community Gatepath program policies and procedures, and quality assurance standards.
- Must comply with applicable CARF accreditation standards, Community Care Licensing, CAL-OSHA, etc.
- Other Duties as assigned
Physical Activity Requirements:
- Ability to physically respond to physically frail persons as needed
- Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. as needed
- Ability to stand, stoop, and bend – frequently
- Ability to drive agency vehicles (transporting participants to events, etc.)
- Ability to respond to, lift and transfer participants with physical disabilities as needed
Education/Experience:
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and ability is qualifying, unless otherwise specified. A typical way to qualify is:
- Minimum Associate Degree is required.
- Experience in working with adults with developmental disabilities. College course work in social services, psychology or other pertinent course work, preferred.
Licensing Requirements:
- Valid California Driver's License
- CPR Certification/First Aid Training
- Ability to obtain criminal clearance
- Ability to meet all licensing requirements
Training Requirements:
- Required to complete a minimum of ten (10) hours of training or continuing education in addition to requirements noted above, approved by Program Manager

The hourly range for this position is $14.50 - $17.00 DOE.
