Summary:
The Job Coach, under the supervision of the Employment Services Business Manager, is responsible for training and supervising adults with developmental disabilities in group work sites.
Essential Functions:
- Trains and supervises participants on the job
- Assists in the development of training programs using employers and Community Gatepath guidelines
- Ensures participant’s work performance meets employer standards
- Assists in the development and implementation of participant annual objectives and track progress as required
- Establishes time study site standards and conducts participant time studies to comply with DOL regulation enforced by Community Gatepath’s Times Studies Administrator
- Participates in required staff and participant meetings
- Acts as a liaison between Parents/Care Providers, Golden Gate Regional Center and Department of Rehabilitation
- Maintains professional relations with employers, GGRC and DR Counselors, Parents/Care Providers and participants
- Ensures a safe work environment for participants according to general safety standards
- Reports any participant or employer problems/incidents according to established timelines to Supervisor or Department Manager
- Follows guidelines/procedures and reports any suspected abuse of participants to Adult Protective Services
- Complies with applicable regulatory agencies: i.e., DOL rules and regulations, CARF accreditation standards, CAL-OSHA, etc.
- Complies with Community Gatepath Policies and Procedures, Safety Policies, Participant Handbook and quality assurance standards
- Other duties as assigned
Physical Activity Requirements:
- Ability to physically respond to physically frail persons - occasionally
- Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.- occasionally
- Ability to sit, stand and walk – constantly
- Ability to see, hear and talk – constantly
- Ability to bend/stoop, twist/turn, reach and finger – occasionally
- Ability to handle, climb, balance, crawl and push – occasionally
Education/Experience:
- AA Degree in Social Services, Vocational Guidance preferred (experience may be substituted for education)
- One (1) to two (2) years’ direct-care experience with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred
- Ability to work a flexible schedule and adapt to change
- Ability to work in different environments, (i.e., food service, maintenance, office)
- Ability to work with persons from varied backgrounds
- Ability to work independently
- Working knowledge of computers, work processing and spreadsheet programs
- Ability to meet criteria to drive Community Gatepath vehicles
- Assists in contract productions as necessary
- Positive outlook, enthusiasm, self-motivated and high energy
- Ability to function as part of a team
Licensing Requirements:
- Valid California Drivers’ License
- CPR Certification
- First Aid Training
- Ability to obtain, if necessary, criminal clearance
Training Requirements:
- Required to complete a minimum of ten (10) hours of training or continuing education as directed and approved by the CEO and the CFO
