Community Gatepath of Northern California

Campaign Overview

Creating a Legacy of Hope and Caring
Campaign for Possibilities will allow Gatepath to offer services unlike any other in San Mateo County. With your support, we will change the way children with special needs receive services and build online communities for parents and professionals across the country to access and share information on the best ways to care for children with special needs.

Campaign for Possibilities will…

…help more children

Our new state-of-the-art Children’s Center, located at 1764 Marco Polo Way in Burlingame, allows us to serve more infants and children with special needs, as well as open our classrooms to children without disabilities.  In 2006, we opened Learning Links Preschool, the first public-nonprofit collaborative preschool of its kind on the Peninsula.  Classrooms have been specifically designed to foster an enriching learning environment where children, both with and without special needs, learn alongside one another.

In the new Center, Gatepath installed special observation rooms to facilitate parent learning and professional collaboration and offer virtual seminars on preferred practices in therapy and parent support. The Center is fast becoming a cornerstone in the community with the unique services taking place inside serving as models for others locally and nationally to learn from and replicate.

…support more families

The Family Resource Center at Community Gatepath® is a parent and family lounge where free Internet access, books, videos, educational workshops and support groups are offered in a warm and welcoming environment.  The Family Resource Center at Community Gatepath® is the only center of its kind in San Mateo County, which is why its expansion is one of the campaign’s priorities.

To ensure support services are available to more families, Campaign for Possibilities will create an online component utilizing the latest web-based technology to compliment the physical Center.  The online Family Resource Center will create a virtual community where parents and caregivers of children with special needs can access information, share insights and offer peer support any time of day, from any location.

…share our learning

Furthering the idea of a connected community, Gatepath will develop a new Knowledge Center where professionals, students and professors can gather to observe, debate and share best practices in serving children with special needs.

The Knowledge Center will establish Gatepath as the premier place in the Bay Area for learning and exploration in the fields of early childhood development and education.   As with the Family Resource Center, we will utilize technology to develop a unique virtual community of practice where local and out-of-state professionals can connect, exchange ideas, participate in discussions and share their observations on cutting edge developments in the field. Campaign for Possibilities will help reduce the national shortage of pediatric specialists by offering continual learning and workforce development opportunities for students and professionals through the Knowledge Center.
